We have arrived!

We have arrived in Antigua! It was a long day of travel, we are exhausted, but excited to be here! The trip went well. We arrived at Portland Airport with our matching luggage Friday afternoon:
Drop off at PDX

Dinner at MOD Pizza!

Matching luggage! Aren't we cute?

The first flight was the most exciting, especially with the landing where the pilot may have accidentally turned to far to the right on the landing and the plan clearly tipped to much.... reminded me of some roller coasters I have been on! Then it was a layover in LAX where our plane left at 12:35am the next morning... so this is how we spent our layover:

The trick was waking them up for the plane!

After sleeping on a the red-eye flight, we finally got our first view of Guatemala:

Beginning our decent into Guatemala City

The city to the left

After landing we quickly went through customs. Glad we got Emma's passport fixed (it was originally printed with only one L in Wallace).

Officially past customs!

Outside of the airport our driver was waiting for us. He asked us for the address of the host family - which was never given to us. So he had to make a phone call. They all were acting like it was no big deal, but it was clear that they forgot to arrange it in advance for us. Fortunately they were able to find us a wonderful place before the van arrived in Antigua.

We are staying with a family that hosts several students at a time (we have met three other students in our house), but the best part is our host family has a young daughter of 6 years who the kids are enjoying playing with. All three of them are having a blast together.

We also have been out in the town twice, once to the central park where most the shopping is and once to where our school will be located. No pictures of these yet, but they will be coming soon! For now, we all need naps!
