As seems to be the case each year, Nicole changes teachers at least once. This time it was an easier transition as her teacher has the same name as before, Rosa. We got a picture on the street outside of our school:

We were told there was a beautiful park (parque de luz) just a 20 minute walk away that looks out over the town. Well, it was a bit more than 20 minutes, and to get the great look out view, one must climb a very steep hill. But it was worth it and the park was lots of fun.

At the top of the "mountain" - I mean Parque de Luz
There was a zip-line swing! Emma Loved it!
Josiah too!
We also had a site-seeing day where we went to an art museum the featured some Da Venci work... even though he was not from Ecuador, nor South America. But the kids had there chance to replicate some of his drawings which was fun.
Compare Emma's work to Da Venci's below
How did Emma do?
Josiah went a bit more... abstract? modern?
We also visited the "Puente Roto" or the broken bridge. It is an old bridge from 1850. But a flood caused the river to rise and it washed away half the bridge (and much of historic Cuenca and many houses). It is a tragic story of the strength of nature over man... but it also made for some great pictures!
Picture of bridge from afar, used to go across the river, no more.

See the church in the background?
First Catholic Church in Cuenca - from 1500s
Random pictures are also fun, the kids found some more "models" while we were out shopping for souvenirs

The main reason we have so many pictures is we went to Turi, which is 460 stair steps above the city (yes, we counted - in Spanish of course). But it is the best view of the city of Cuenca. It also includes some thrill rides including a big swing where the majority of the swing you are hanging out over the city of Cuenca... very high... very very high. Only Tyler and Josiah were brave enough to do this thrill ride, but everyone enjoyed several rides:

Do you see him out there?
Josiah ready for the big swing!
Do you see Josiah out there?
In case you were wondering how high the swing was

There was a convenient place to leave your kids
Emma took a turn as well
There was a "Tarzan Swing" - See Tyler?
Do you see Josiah?
There was a very unstable bridge that Emma enjoyed crossing with Alejandra-Helen
Dad and Josiah had to cross it too
They may have fallen off - good thing they had a harness
Emma and Dad took a turn as well
We have been having lots of fun, today was our first day of not having plans after class during the afternoon. It was kind of nice. We took a nap. The blog finally got updated. And we got to unwind a bit after a very busy few weeks. With only a week and a half left in Cuenca, the time is flying fast!
