Early this morning we got a tip (thanks Kim!) on three bilingual churches in Antigua. After researching, two of them were near our house, and we were able to make both services to decide which we liked and why. Got a picture of the first service:
La Iglesia de Camino
The first church, La Iglesia de Camino, sung songs with words in both English and Spanish so everyone could sing in the language of preference at the same time. It was quite neat. The sermon was delivered in English with a translator helping every few sentences for those who spoke Spanish. The second service, Shoreline, was mostly in English, but we could request an ear piece to hear the Spanish translations. The jury is split on which church (or a new church) we will attend next week.
After church we went to the supermarket where we purchased some food (we feed ourselves on Sundays), school supplies, and other needed essentials (toothpaste!).
At the Supermarket
Now that we have begun spending money, we finally have purchased some Quetzales. The ratio is about 7 Q = $1 US.
Guatemalan Money (Quetzales)
We are getting used to walking everywhere, but most our life falls within a 7 by 7 grid of streets that are quite easy to navigate. We have already put in our 10,000 steps for the day, so I think it will be a lazy rest of the day. Tomorrow classes start at 8am!
How much did your groceries cost? What did you buy to make today?
