First week of classes

This blog will be a bit longer, mainly because there are a lot of pictures, which is what you all really want anyway. Today we ended our first week of studies. We will all have the same teachers next week as well. We are very happy with all our teachers. We study about 4 hours a day in a beautiful garden that is owned by the school. The teachers go over grammar with us and also allow us to practice conversation with them on whatever topic we want. The kids are learning colors, numbers, body parts, basic verbs, and opposites. Nicole is learning the present tense (and irregular verbs!) Tyler is working on the past tense (and irregular verbs!). Below are all our teachers:

Josiah with his teacher Samuel

Emma with her teacher Carmen

Tyler with his teacher Noemi

Nicole with her teacher Nidia

This week we also took a walk to Cerro de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross) which has a great view of the entire city of Antigua! We only had to climb 303 steps to get there (Emma counted).

La Iglesia de Merced

This week we also got to see two volcanoes erupting (from the comfort of our house)! What an exciting country this is. These volcanoes were very far away. In the next week or two we hope to visit a volcano where we can hike up to the lava flow and roast marshmallows over the lava!
